Part of San Diego's Old Globe Festival Season, Shakespeare's historical thriller makes a welcome return this summer, with Robert Sean Leonard reprising the role of the reckless and ambitious English king. The first play in the four-part Wars Of The Roses cycle about the tumultuous fortunes of the Houses of York and Lancaster, Richard II is portrayed as a capricious and vain monarch, who is convinced of his own divinity, but fails to see the danger and precarious nature of his claim to the throne.

A sizzling tale of gangsters, molls and gamblers, Guys and Dolls is one of the all-time great American musicals. Boasting a score by Pulitzer winner Frank Loesser (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying), it originally premiered on Broadway in 1950, and was subsequently adapted for the big screen with Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando in the lead roles.

Ken Ludwig presents his brand new work at the Old Globe. This world premiere of Robin Hood! is a fresh take on the timeless tale, full of plenty of swashbuckling adventure, romance and belly laughs. All the usual cast of characters are here, from the rotund Friar Tuck to the dastardly Sheriff of Nottingham, and is directed by Jessica Stone, who helmed past Globe productions Arms and the Man, and Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike​.

Barry Edelstein directs arguably, Shakespeare's most famous drama in the great outdoors at Lowell's Festival Theatre this summer. Part of the The Old Globe Theatre Festival season, the greatest tragic hero ever written is often the defining role of a stage actor's career, with each new incarnation being judged against a lineage of acting greats such as Lawrence Olivier, Richard Burton, and more recently, Benedict Cumberbatch at London's Barbican. With the cast to be confirmed for the staging, Bard lovers in San Diego are in for a thrilling treat during the balmy summer nights ahead.

The world was first introduced to the story of Benny and Joon in the classic 1993 movie, which starred a never better Johnny Depp. Now the Old Globe presents the world premiere of the musical adaptation, written by Kirsten Guenther​, and boasting a score by Nolan Gasser and Mindi Dickstein.​
