The multi-talented John Leguizamo brings his latest one man show to the La Jolla. Billed as a workshop, Latin History for Dummies will be honed in front of San Diego audiences in preparation for an Off-Broadway run in 2017. The show sees Leguizamo lead you through a very different kind of history class, exploring the hugely influential latinos who are too often left out of history books. Touching on everything from the Incan Empire to the forgotten heroes of WWII, this is a hilarious and biting schooling you're never gonna forget!
Best known as the star of films like Romeo + Juliet, Carlito's Way and, most recently, American Ultra, Leguizamo first broke into the entertainment industry as a stand-up working the New York City nightclub scene.
As a comic Leguizamo is know for his high-energy, feisty performances, with his subject matter a mixture of ethnic comedy and autobiographical material. His more formal solo shows have won huge acclaim as. In 1998 he performed in 'Freak' on Broadway, which was directed by Spike Lee and won Leguizamo a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding One-Person Show.
